Charlottesville is 2-8 against Albemarle since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Black Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. Charlottesville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Charlottesville needed a bit of extra time to put away Staunton. They had just enough and edged out the Storm 7-6. While the Black Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Charlottesville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liam Frazier, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Mason Divers also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

James River Midlothian hit Albemarle with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots fell just short of the Rapids by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Patriots have suffered since May 9, 2024.

Albemarle now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Charlottesville, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Charlottesville skirted past Albemarle 7-5 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Black Knights repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
