Basketball Game Preview: Woodcreek Timberwolves vs. Rio Americano Raiders

The Woodcreek Timberwolves will venture away from home to face off against the Rio Americano Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Woodcreek has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Woodcreek is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Ponderosa: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Woodcreek blew Ponderosa out of the water with a 72-40 final score. The Timberwolves pushed the score to 48-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bruins had little chance of recovering from.

Tristian Lattimore was the offensive standout of the contest as he posted 16 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Chase Yukawa was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Rio Americano had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Vista del Lago by a score of 56-44 on Monday. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Eagles are ranked 374th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Woodcreek's record now sits at 18-5. As for Rio Americano, their record is now 15-8.

Woodcreek and Rio Americano were neck-and-neck when the teams last played on January 7th, but Woodcreek came up empty-handed after a 55-54 loss. Can Woodcreek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
