Softball Recap: Rickards Sets Scoring Season-High Against Jefferson County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rickards). They were the clear victor by a 21-2 margin over the Jefferson County Tigers on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Raiders needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Sheyenne Holmes made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs.

In other batting news, Arriana Wilson was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Alivia Scott, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Rickards moved to 5-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Jefferson County, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Rickards will challenge Aucilla Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. We've got a battle between Tigers coming up.
