Baseball Recap: Zionsville Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Zionsville extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 5-4 in the process. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Hamilton Southeastern Royals. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-1 on Thursday.

Peter Ward tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Brayden Ring was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Tyler Hughes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Zionsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hamilton Southeastern only posted a batting average of .160.

As for Hamilton Southeastern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly four runs.

On Hamilton Southeastern's side, they got a good showing from Dylan Cope, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.

At the plate, Hamilton Southeastern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddux Bach, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Coming up, Zionsville will take on Franklin Community at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. The Grizzly Cubs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hamilton Southeastern, they will be playing at home against Bloomington South at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
