Baseball Recap: Henry County Comes Up Short

Henry County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Oldham Dragons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 9-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Baylor Nolin was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nolin was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Henry County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-3 (and 4-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Nicholas Bryan was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Henry County is 6-2 when Bryan posts two or more runs, but 5-11 otherwise.

Henry County's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for South Oldham, their win bumped their record up to 12-17.

Looking ahead, Henry County will take on Nicholas County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Oldham, they will square off against North Bullitt at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
