Baseball Recap: Lakeside Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Lakeside won the last time they faced Riverside and things went their way on Saturday too. The Eagles blew past the Rams 14-2. Considering the Eagles have won four matchups by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kannon Almond made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Lakeside got a massive performance out of Mason Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Thomas a new career-high. Clayton Pavlin was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Lakeside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverside only posted an OBP of .429.

The win was the third in a row for Lakeside, bringing their record up to 6-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Riverside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Lakeside will have a chance to go back-to-back against Riverside: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
