Softball Recap: Pleasant Valley Has No Trouble Against Louis E. Dieruff

Pleasant Valley's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Louis E. Dieruff Huskies with a sharp 22-1 victory. Considering the Bears have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddie Abbatiello was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Abbatiello was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Pleasant Valley got a massive performance out of Jovie Valenzuela, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was Valenzuela's first of the season. Rylan Knapp was another key player, scoring three runs while going 4-for-5.

Pleasant Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Pleasant Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Louis E. Dieruff, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Coming up, Pleasant Valley will square off against East Stroudsburg South at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Louis E. Dieruff, they will challenge Freedom at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight.
