Volleyball Recap: Central Escapes with a Win

Central had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Milton Panthers 3-2.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (107-106) Central actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-22, 18-25, 22-25, 15-11.

Alivia Ward paced Central's offense, picking up 12 kills. Ward got some help from Laney Mathews and her 20 assists. Tambry Frady and Cloe Poole kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Milton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Carstyn Black, who had 32 assists and 13 digs. The team also got some help from Harmony Taliancich, who had 26 kills.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Milton, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-1.

Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against West Florida Baptist Academy on the 18th. As for Milton, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Booker T. Washington on the 19th.
