Softball Recap: Jones Has No Trouble Against Liberty Christian Academy

Jones was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Liberty Christian Academy on Thursday. Everything went the Jones Trojans' way against the Liberty Christian Academy Heat as the Jones Trojans made off with an 11-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Heat: they've now won three in a row.

Payten Plyler was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, Kynlee Whaley was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Makenzie Maines was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

The victory got Jones back to even at 2-2. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Jones will square off against Bethel Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bethel Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14 runs per game this season. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they will take on Freedom Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty Christian Academy has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
