Basketball Recap: Miya Tatum and Jamiyah Powell Secure Win for Macon-East Montgomery Academy

Macon-East Montgomery Academy hadn't done well against Hooper Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Macon-East Montgomery Academy Knights walked away with a 45-33 victory over the Hooper Academy Colts. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Colts last Thursday, they had to take a 47-25 defeat.

Leading Macon-East Montgomery Academy to victory were Jamiyah Powell and Miya Tatum. Powell dropped a double-double on 24 points and 16 rebounds, while Tatum almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals. Powell is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season.

Macon-East Montgomery Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. As for Hooper Academy, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2.

Macon-East Montgomery Academy will venture away from home to face off against Lakeside School at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Macon-East Montgomery Academy is facing Lakeside School at the right time seeing as Lakeside School is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hooper Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sparta Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 30th.
