Softball Recap: Goose Creek Gets the Win

Goose Creek's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 12-7 win over the Timberland Wolves. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Gators' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Hannah Blystone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits. The game marked her first with multiple earned runs this season.

On the hitting side, Jaionna Wheatley was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emery Gandolfo, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Goose Creek's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Timberland, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goose Creek will take on Berkeley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Berkeley's pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so Goose Creek's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Timberland, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Andrews at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
