Baseball Recap: Skyline Takes a Loss

The matchup between Skyline and Desert Mountain on Thursday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Skyline Coyotes took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Desert Mountain Wolves. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Coyotes, who until this match were averaging 3.7 runs allowed.

Hunter Daniels was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, Julian Otero was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Desert Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.

As for Desert Mountain, they will challenge Mountain Pointe at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Mountain is facing Mountain Pointe at the right time seeing as Mountain Pointe is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
