Wellington had won five straight road games dating back to last season and Lauren Vannatter did her part to make it six on Thursday. The Dukes came out on top in a nail-biter against the Columbia Raiders, sneaking past 3-2 with plenty of help from Vannatter, who had nine digs and two aces. She has been hot, having also posted 13 or more assists the last five times she's played.

Wellington was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 16-25, 15-25, 25-15, 15-10.

Wellington's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Columbia, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Wellington will take on Firelands at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbia, they will face off against Midview at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
