Baseball Recap: Pocatello Takes a Loss

Pocatello pushed their score to 12 the last time they played Meridian, but on Thursday they couldn't quite do it again. The Pocatello Thunder fell just short of the Meridian Warriors by a score of 2-0. The Thunder were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

HUSTON HIMMERICH was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, KACHE STUCKI was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That double was his first of the season.

Pocatello's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Meridian, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Coming up, Pocatello will head out on the road to challenge Timberline at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Timberline is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Meridian, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 loss against Post Falls on the 20th.
