Baseball Game Preview: Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers vs. Benjamin Buccaneers

The Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers will venture away from home to square off against the Benjamin Buccaneers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Benjamin took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Melbourne Central Catholic, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Melbourne Central Catholic turned things around against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Tigers 2-1.

Thomas Chiuchiolo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Chiuchiolo wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cole Carroll, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Carroll hit this season.

Meanwhile, Benjamin fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Suncoast on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 2-1. The Buccaneers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Melbourne Central Catholic's record is now 7-5. As for Benjamin, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Melbourne Central Catholic came up short against Benjamin in their previous meeting back in March of 2015, falling 8-3. Can Melbourne Central Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
