Softball Game Preview: Brooke Bruins vs. The Linsly School Cadets

The Brooke Bruins will head out on the road to face off against The Linsly School Cadets at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brooke is looking for their season's first win.

Brooke came up short against Indian Creek on Monday, falling 10-4.

Brooke saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jazymn Wood, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Emilee McKinney was another, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, The Linsly School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Monroe Central.

Madison ?May? Applegarth was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Brooke's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for The Linsly School, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Brooke couldn't quite get it done against The Linsly School in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 3-0. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
