Football Recap: Eastside Comes Up Short on the Road Against Newton + How To Watch

Eastside had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a hard 39-24 fall against the Newton Rams on Friday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Despite the loss, Eastside still got an impressive performance from Myles Mims, who rushed for 132 yards and two scores. Payton Shaw was another key player, throwing for 150 yards and one TD.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kevin Hartsfield, who rushed for 131 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius White, who rushed for 64 yards and a pair of scores.

Eastside wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 41-0 win against Hiram on the 21st. As for Newton, they have also already played their next contest, a 62-6 victory against Alcovy on the 22nd.
