Basketball Recap: Monroe Area Triumphs

Monroe Area saw some tournament action on Saturday. They managed a 53-49 victory over the Johnson Atomsmashers.

Johnson's loss came despite strong showings from Quentin James and Treshawn Robinson. James went 6 for 14 on his way to 15 points, while Robinson went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and three steals. Robinson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shatiq Parker, who posted six points.

Monroe Area's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Johnson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Monroe Area didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-63 defeat against East Hall on the 7th. As for Johnson, they will square off against Jenkins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Johnson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season.
