Basketball Game Preview: Salmen Spartans vs. Edna Karr Cougars

The Salmen Spartans are taking a road trip to square off against the Edna Karr Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Salmen has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 191 points over their last three contests.

Salmen took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Warren Easton with a sharp 61-35 victory. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Fighting Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Salmen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Akayla Mcmooain, who went 11-for-21 to rack up 24 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Mcmooain has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendal Thomas, who shot 57% from the field en route to 16 points along with eight assists and eight steals.

Salmen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 18 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Edna Karr blew past John Ehret, posting a 54-25 victory.

The win got Edna Karr back to even at 1-1. As for Salmen, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Salmen took a serious blow against Edna Karr in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 83-54. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
