Preview: Burke Cougars vs. Platte/Geddes Black Panthers
Burke is 0-3 against Platte/Geddes since December of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Burke Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Platte/Geddes Black Panthers at 8:00 p.m.
Burke had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of North Central by a score of 53-50. The matchup was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but Burke was outscored by North Central in the second.
Meanwhile, Platte/Geddes blew past Scotland, posting a 69-29 win at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Platte/Geddes.
Burke bumped their record down to 0-1 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Platte/Geddes, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Burke took a serious blow against Platte/Geddes in their previous matchup back in January, falling 74-45. Can Burke avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
