Basketball Recap: Chris Spriggs Key Part of Team Effort in Jaguars Win

Floyd Central won the last time they faced Belfry and things went their way on Thursday too. The Floyd Central Jaguars managed a 64-58 victory over the Belfry Pirates. The win was some much needed relief for the Jaguars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Floyd Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chris Spriggs, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 19 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. What's more, Spriggs posted three steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Wesley Buck, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 16 points along with five assists and three steals.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Diles, who shot 50% from the field en route to 18 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. Carter Jude was another key player, putting up 12 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.

Floyd Central's victory bumped their record up to 10-18. As for Belfry, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season.

Floyd Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-67 win against Shelby Valley on the 1st. Belfry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
