Basketball Recap: Bell Comes Up Short

Bell lost against Dixie County back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bell Bulldogs fell to the Dixie County Bears 53-49. The Bulldogs just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Bell lost, don't look at Maddie Smith. Despite the final result, she posted 22 points and eight steals. What's more, Smith also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dacy Graham, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Bell's record now sits at 5-9. As for Dixie County, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bell will head out to challenge Bronson at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Dixie County, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Fort White at 7:00 p.m. on January 21st.
