Soccer Game Preview: Unity Reed vs. Osbourn

The Unity Reed Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Osbourn Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Unity Reed's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

It was a proper cat-fight when Unity Reed challenged Battlefield last Friday. The Lions came up short against the Bobcats, falling 10-0. While losing is never fun, Unity Reed can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Battlefield are ranked 45th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Osbourn). They were the clear victors by a 6-2 margin over Freedom last Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded Osbourn with their most commanding win of the season.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-5. As for Unity Reed, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Unity Reed couldn't quite get it done against Osbourn when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
