Baseball Game Preview: Butler Bulldogs vs. Independence Patriots

For the second straight game, Butler will face off against Independence. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

While Butler's win against Independence wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs skirted past the Patriots 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won six in a row.

For Independence's part, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brian Crowder, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. The Patriots are 4-2 when Crowder posts two or more runs, but 4-12 otherwise. Another was Frankie Jones, Jr, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Independence is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Butler, their record is now 8-14.
