Baseball Game Preview: Fillmore Flashes vs. Malibu Sharks

For the second straight game, Fillmore will face off against Malibu. The Flashes will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Sharks at 3:00 p.m.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Fillmore turned things around against Malibu on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Sharks 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Flashes have posted since March 15th.

Santiago Avila made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Fillmore is undefeated when Avila posts two or more runs, but 4-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, Miguel Rincon was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Adrian Magana was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

Malibu dropped their record down to 1-14 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Fillmore, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.
