Baseball Recap: Zimmerman's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Zimmerman barely beat North Branch the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Thunder blew past the Vikings 7-1 on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Thunder as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Nathan Buermann made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Buermann wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Gruis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Gruis a new career-high. Another was Seth Cochran, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Zimmerman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

The win was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 2-11. As for North Branch, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.
