Basketball Game Preview: Spring Lake Lakers vs. Orchard View Cardinals

Spring Lake is 9-1 against Orchard View since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Spring Lake Lakers will be taking part in a tournament against the Orchard View Cardinals at 5:30 p.m.

Spring Lake is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since January 24th on Friday. They were outmatched by Unity Christian and fell 57-29. While losing is never fun, the Lakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Crusaders are ranked 12th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Orchard View duked it out with Shelby on Friday. Orchard View snuck past Shelby with a 60-55 victory.

Spring Lake's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points over those games. As for Orchard View, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-14.

Everything came up roses for Spring Lake against Orchard View when the teams last played back in March of 2022, as the team secured a 59-32 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spring Lake since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
