Softball Recap: La Jolla Country Day Takes a Loss

La Jolla Country Day extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-8 in the process. They came up short against the San Ysidro Cougars, falling 14-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Torreys haven't been shut out since back in March.

As for San Ysidro, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-4. Considering they have won ten contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For San Ysidro's part, Isabella Ulloa made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Ulloa has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Julia Rosales was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Mary Ellen Valenzuela was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Coming up, La Jolla Country Day will venture away from home to challenge Tri-City Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for San Ysidro, they will square off against Montgomery at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
