Basketball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Sunrise Mountain couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Canyon View Jaguars by a score of 49-47 on Saturday. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jaguars earlier this season, when they won 56-43.

Sunrise Mountain lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Addison Wiemann, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Omoye-Ojavan Aguebor, who shot 63% from the field en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Sunrise Mountain's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 23-6. As for Canyon View, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

Sunrise Mountain does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Canyon View, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-48 victory against Catalina Foothills on the 4th.
