Baseball Recap: Cary Takes a Loss

Cary lost against Cardinal Gibbons back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Imps fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 9-8. The Imps have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cary got a good showing from Logan Joyce, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Joyce has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Owen Green made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-5. Cary is 2-1 when Green posts two or more runs, but 1-7 otherwise. Andrew Mohler was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Cary's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Cardinal Gibbons, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Crusaders beat Cary by a score of 11-0 on Tuesday.
