Basketball Game Preview: Evansville Central Bears vs. Boonville Pioneers

The Evansville Central Bears will take on the Boonville Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Evansville Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.

Evansville Central took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Castle by a score of 59-47. The Bears pushed the score to 51-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Knights cut but never quite recovered from.

Madalynn Shirley continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 35 points and 14 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Evansville Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Kelley, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, after only 22 points in their last matchup, Boonville made sure to put some points up on the board against Tecumseh on Saturday. Boonville walked away with a 56-47 win over Tecumseh. The victory was some much needed relief for the Pioneers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Boonville's win bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Evansville Central, they have also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Everything went Evansville Central's way against Boonville in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Evansville Central made off with a 57-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Evansville Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
