Softball Recap: Stanton County Wins Going Away Against Holcomb

Stanton County got themselves on the board against Holcomb on Tuesday, but Holcomb never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Longhorns. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by ten runs or more this season.

Kynzi Fehringer and Sidney Parks made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Fehringer pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Parks tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Fehringer posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Fehringer got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Parks got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Fehringer is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Stanton County let Kaydence McCleary and Valeria Ortega run wild. McCleary went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Ortega went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave McCleary a new career-high. Allison Miravete also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Stanton County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Stanton County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Holcomb, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Stanton County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Longhorns: the pair will be back at it again later today.
