Softball Recap: Gardena Takes a Loss

Gardena extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-6 in the process. They came up short against the Narbonne Gauchos, falling 11-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 19-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Narbonne, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-4 record. Considering they have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Narbonne's part, Delilah Erwin spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits.

At the plate, Jocelyn Lopez was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Lilliana Gutierrez was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gardena will square off against Banning at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Narbonne, they will take on Bernstein at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gauchos will need to watch out since the Dragons have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
