Baseball Recap: Northlake Christian Triumphs

Northlake Christian came into Tuesday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Holden Rockets on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-1.

Eli Shoemake was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northlake Christian is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-12-1 otherwise. Shoemake was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Johnathon Lee, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

Northlake Christian's victory bumped their record up to 13-14-1. As for Holden, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northlake Christian will host Metairie Park Country Day at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holden, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against East Jefferson at 1:00 p.m.
