Tyner Academy is 0-4 against Sequoyah since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Rams will head out to square off against the Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. Sequoyah took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Tyner Academy, who comes in off a win.
Tyner Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Brainerd get on the board and left with a 21-0 win on Tuesday. The Rams have beaten the Panthers the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Jaden Isbell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryleigh Chubb, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zion Dujon, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.
Tyner Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Sequoyah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 8-4 to Lenoir City.
Sequoyah saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Levi Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Logan Johnson was another, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Sequoyah's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Tyner Academy, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 4-15.
Tyner Academy suffered a grim 15-2 defeat to Sequoyah in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
