Basketball Recap: Laurence Manning Academy Extends Winning Streak to Three

Laurence Manning Academy had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Orangeburg Prep Indians, sneaking past 61-59. This was a revenge game for the Swampcats: when they faced off against the Indians back in December of 2024, they had to take a 67-59 loss.

Orangeburg Prep's loss came despite strong showings from Avery Ravenell and Tilden Riley. Ravenell posted 22 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds, while Riley dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Riley's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Charlie McCutcheon, who scored seven points and ten rebounds.

Laurence Manning Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Orangeburg Prep, they moved to 9-3 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laurence Manning Academy will square off against Trinity Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Orangeburg Prep, they will face off against Thomas Sumter Academy at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
