Recap: Grant Lancers vs. Verdugo Hills Dons
The Grant Lancers entered their tilt with the Verdugo Hills Dons with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Grant came out on top against Verdugo Hills by a score of 78-70 on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Grant had a senior duo take command as WILLIAM OVERTON dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds and Omree Bentov scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bentov has scored all season. Anthony Minnoy was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Verdugo Hills lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alexander Martinez, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Georges Abdulnour, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds.
Grant has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Verdugo Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grant won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Monroe at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Monroe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1093rd, while Grant is ranked 262nd). As for Verdugo Hills, Verdugo Hills and Poly will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
