Volleyball Preview: Ellicott Thunderhawks vs. La Junta Tigers        
        
		
             Ellicott is 0-6 against La Junta since September of 2018 but things could change  on Tuesday. The Ellicott Thunderhawks will head out to  face off against the La Junta Tigers  at 6:30  p.m.
 Ellicott is headed into Tuesday's   contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game  on Thursday. They fell just short of Manitou Springs by a score of  3-2. While the Thunderhawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs  25-16 in the first  period.
 Ellicott took Manitou Springs into a fifth set  but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-16, 25-8, 16-25,  15-12.
 Meanwhile, La Junta made easy work of Rocky Ford  on Thursday and carried off  a  3-0 win. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for the Tigers.
 Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: La Junta took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-14,  25-15.
 La Junta's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Brooklyn Lovato led the charge by  getting 22  digs and two  aces. Lovato is  on a roll when it comes to  aces, as she's  now  served two or more in the last three games she's  played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Gabriella Sanchez, who  had nine  digs, two  kills,  and two  aces.
 She wasn't the only good server: La Junta  was lethal from the service line and  finished the game with 11  aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  served at least five  aces in five consecutive  matches.
 Ellicott's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for La Junta, their record now sits at 3-9.
 Ellicott suffered a grim  3-0 defeat to La Junta  when the teams last played  back in October of 2023. Can Ellicott avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
