Softball Recap: Athens Warriors vs. Springfield Senators
Athens had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 8-10 to make it five. They came up short against the Springfield Senators, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
As for Springfield, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3. They haven't had any issues with Athens recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
For Springfield's part, Mia Volpert made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Volpert has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
