Volleyball Recap: Desert Pines Falls Despite Big Games from Giselle Nava and Maya Stewart

Desert Pines was the 3-0 winner over Western when they last played one another back in October of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Jaguars came up short against the Warriors on Monday, falling 3-0.

The match was exciting from start to finish, as two sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-13, 28-26.

Maya Stewart and Giselle Nava certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Stewart had three digs and two aces, while Nava had seven digs.

Desert Pines' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Western, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Desert Pines is set to take on their familiar foe Bonanza at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Western will square off against rival Cimarron-Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
