Volleyball Recap: St. Pius X Takes Down Ranked Eureka

St. Pius X faced Eureka in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Lancers came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Lancers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading St. Pius X to victory were Sadie Archer and Harper Gass. Archer had 18 digs, while Gass had 11 digs and two aces. Those 18 digs gave Archer a new career-high.

Despite the defeat, Eureka saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Elise Parker had 17 digs and four assists. Parker is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Caroline Tenholder also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

St. Pius X is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Eureka, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-5.

Looking ahead, St. Pius X will welcome St. Vincent at 7:00 p.m. on October 1. As for Eureka, they will face off against St. Joseph's Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
