Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Montesano's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Montesano never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Tenino Beavers. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Montesano got a great performance from Violet Prince as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Prince has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Grace Gooding, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Addison Potts was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Montesano kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive matches.

Montesano has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Tenino, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Montesano will look to defend their home field on Friday against Forks at 4:00 p.m. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tenino, they will face off against Elma at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
