Basketball Game Preview: Marian Catholic vs. Williams Valley Vikings

Marian Catholic are taking a road trip to take on the Williams Valley Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Marian Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Marian Catholic ended up a good deal behind Mahanoy Area and lost 67-53. The defeat continues a trend for Marian Catholic in their matchups with Mahanoy Area: they've now lost five in a row.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jacob De La Cruz, who posted 13 points. Gregory Tirpak was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Meanwhile, Williams Valley played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Minersville 77-27. The contest marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Williams Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Marian Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Marian Catholic strolled past Williams Valley in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 73-57. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marian Catholic since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
