Basketball Recap: Mt. Salus Christian Eagles vs. Claiborne Academy Rebels
Mt. Salus Christian and Claiborne Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mt. Salus Christian had to settle for second. They took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Claiborne Academy Rebels.
Claiborne Academy was led to victory by Dylan Buckner and Maddox Gaston. Buckner went 9 of 15 on his way to 19 points along with five assists and five boards, while Gaston went 8 for 12 to rack up 20 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Gaston a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Reagan Feazell, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Mt. Salus Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-9. As for Claiborne Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.
