Basketball Recap: Mt. Salus Christian Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Mt. Salus Christian and Claiborne Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mt. Salus Christian had to settle for second. They took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Claiborne Academy Rebels.

Claiborne Academy was led to victory by Dylan Buckner and Maddox Gaston. Buckner went 9 of 15 on his way to 19 points along with five assists and five boards, while Gaston went 8 for 12 to rack up 20 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Gaston a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Reagan Feazell, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Mt. Salus Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-9. As for Claiborne Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Mt. Salus Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-49 victory against Briarfield Academy on the 8th. As for Claiborne Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 71-43 defeat against Woodlawn Prep on the 8th.
