Softball Recap: Valley View Sets Scoring Season-High Against Roma

Valley View took a 16-run loss the last time they faced off against Roma, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Valley View Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Roma Gladiators 18-17. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Valley View saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lizzet Trevino, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles. That's the most hits Trevino has posted since back in March of 2024. Giselle Rangel was another, going 2-for-4 with one double.

Valley View hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roma struck out eight times.

The win got Valley View back to even at 5-5. As for Roma, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Valley View will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Grulla at 7:00 p.m. on March 10th. Valley View is facing Grulla at the right time seeing as Grulla is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Roma, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-7 loss against Juarez-Lincoln on the 28th.
