Faith Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 68-60 victory over the Christian Liberty Chargers. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Chargers are ranked 369th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Faith Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Schuler led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Logan Baker, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Faith Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Faith Christian's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Christian Liberty, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-5.

Faith Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Arthur-Okaw Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Faith Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups. As for Christian Liberty, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Mooseheart at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Christian Liberty knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Mooseheart likes a good challenge.
