Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Arden Marchiorlatti and Carson Cruz Lead University to Victory

After only seven points in their last game, University made sure to put some points up on the board against Irvine on Monday. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 36-14 margin over the Vaqueros. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Vaqueros: they've now won five in a row.

A big part of University's win came down to the chemistry between Carson Cruz and her top target Arden Marchiorlatti. Cruz threw for 266 yards and five TDs while completing 73.3% of her passes while Marchiorlatti picked up 72 receiving yards and three touchdowns. That's the most receiving touchdowns Marchiorlatti has posted since back in September of 2024.

One reason for the win was University's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Ella Carmichael with two.

University's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-8. As for Irvine, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-10.

University has already played their next match, a 34-6 win against Laguna Beach on the 10th. As for Irvine, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-0 defeat against Woodbridge on the 10th.
