Basketball Recap: Yutan Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Yutan won the last time they faced Palmyra and things went their way on Friday too. The Yutan Chieftains put the hurt on the Palmyra Panthers with a sharp 48-26 win. The Chieftains pushed the score to 37-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers cut but never quite recovered from.

Yutan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amelia Dieckman led the charge by putting up 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylee Tichota, who posted 12 points.

Yutan's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Palmyra, they moved to 9-6 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yutan will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Louisville at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th. Palmyra has already played their next game (against Wilber-Clatonia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
