Softball Recap: Hephzibah Rebels vs. Baldwin Braves
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Howard, Hephzibah was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Baldwin Braves with a sharp 21-6 victory. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by eight runs or more this season.
JaNiya Grant made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Grant was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Hephzibah got a massive performance out of Jada Baker, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Baker a new career-high in hits. Nhu-Y Tran was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Hephzibah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Baldwin only hit six.
Hephzibah has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for Baldwin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Cross Creek the next time they take the field. Baldwin will head out to face Cross Creek at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Hephzibah will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
