D'angelo Duarte's Big Game Leads Alexandria City over West Springfield

Starting off the list is Alexandria City's D'Angelo Duarte, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Duarte rushed for 216 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run.

Alexandria City's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. Duarte and Alexandria City will challenge South County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Friday, West Springfield had to settle for second even though Brady Davies put up the best numbers he has all season. Davies rushed for 49 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Davies is probably looking forward to his next game, a home matchup against Robinson on Friday. Davies rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 60 yards and a touchdown the last time he and the Rams duked it out back in October of 2023.

Sadly, Mark-Anthony Whyte posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead West Springfield over Alexandria City on Friday. Whyte rushed for 157 yards while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. The effort marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in September of 2023.

Alexandria City had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Whyte it was a similar story. When Whyte last faced the Titans back in September of 2023, he rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries.
